It’s Not Just About the Money: Writing Grants for the End Gain

Course Summary:
This two-day (16 hr) training investigates the statement that “The federal government grant deadline ‘Rush Hour’ traditionally runs from December 1st through March 31st; nonetheless, grant writing is a marathon–not a sprint.” While there are millions of dollars in grants available, this interactive workshop will help you focus beyond the funding pursuit and provide you with hands-on techniques for: evaluating and prioritizing RFPs and NOFAs by the numbers; calculating grant matches the correct way; time and task analysis, as well as timelines and milestones table development for writing/administering your grants; writing SMART objectives; easy grant drafting from an effective project abstract; how to track in-kind for any auditor; maximizing grant failure via the We Didn’t Score Meeting, and much more. Participants will leave with a comprehensive notebook containing the interactive budget development and writing exercise materials from the workshop, grant-specific worksheets, sample grant writing templates, NOFOs, and funded grant proposal documents, etc.

Instructor:
Ms. Michia Casebier is President of M.G. Tech-Writing, LLC (MGT), a multimodal transportation planning, grant and technical writing sole proprietorship, which opened its doors in 1993, and has funded nearly $26 million dollars in grants. MGT provides consultant services to for- and non-profit organizations, governments, and government agencies focusing on multimodal and tribal transportation planning; grant program development, training, and technical assistance for rural and tribal communities. Casebier has written Tribal Safety Plans for Alaska Native Villages and New Mexico pueblos, as well as numerous Safe Routes to School Route/Travel Plans, pedestrian and bicycle master plans, and Active School Neighborhood Reports over her transportation planning career.

The non-refundable registration fee is $40 and is payable by check or credit card. Payment must be received prior to the first day of class.
