Gravel Road Maintenance

This course is scheduled for April 9, 2024 (8–10 am PT). The cost is $20.

This 2-hour virtual training is designed to build confidence in student’s ability to maintain gravel roads with respect to repair and drivability. Topics covered include shaping the road, surfacing, and dust control.

Gravel roads require special maintenance and treatment. Participants will learn about:

  • Crowning
  • Drainage & culverts
  • Cross slope & curves
  • Corrugation & raveling
  • Intersections & cattle guards
  • Grading

Instructor

Steven V. Jenkins has been practicing engineering in Utah and Montana for over 35 years. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.E. in Geotechnical Engineering. He has performed project design and construction on all types of street and highway projects. Steve also has extensive experience in training local governments to encourage solid leadership skills, employee and crew motivation, and construction safety.

Steve’s experience in design and construction uniquely prepares him to teach these skills to be understood by all employees. He has established long-term relationships with city and county professionals by prioritizing clients’ training needs and assisting them with project development.
