Description

The Road Safety Audits workshop is designed to introduce road safety audits as an effective tool that could reduce crashes on your road network. The workshop will help local road agency professionals understand basic road safety audit concepts, risks, safety and common issues.

Participants will gain experience in conducting a road safety audit. An on-site RSA is included in the two-day course. The workshop will also demonstrate that low cost safety improvements can be implemented quickly to reduce crashes.

This workshop will include site visits.  Bring safety vests and wear comfortable clothing including footwear, rain or shine.  The exercise will be a team project.

Craig Allred, joined the Federal Highway Administration, (FHWA), in 2001. Currently, he is a Transportation Specialist assigned to the FHWA Resource Center on the Safety and Design Team, working with Road Safety Audits, Designing and Planning for Pedestrian Safety, Automated Enforcement, Speed Management, ITS and Safety and Older Drivers.  He retired from the State of Utah after 25 years of service in the Utah Department of Public Safety, including eight years as the director of the Utah Highway Safety Office.
